Wild Goose Chase

Meaning:

Futilely pursuing something that will never be attainable. Similar to other sayings in English, such as “going around in circles.”

Examples:

  • He sends me out on this wild goose chase.
  • Sending you on a wild goose chase for dollars that don't exist.
  • Thanks for sending me on a wild goose chase, by the way.
  • Sending you on a wild goose chase for dollars that don't exist.
  • He sent you on a wild goose chase.
  • There's no sense in going on a wild goose chase.
  • Maybe it is a wild goose chase for an animal, at least.
  • Why did you send me on a wild goose chase, Jack?
