Dance with death

Meaning:

try to do something that involves a lot of risks.

Examples:

  • He danced with death when he tried to negotiate a deal with that dangerous criminal.
  • The crossing of the border into enemy territory was like dancing with death. You are dancing with death in your effort to cross that narrow ledge.
  • When the last two surviving vigilantes arrive, locked in their own dance of death and revenge, Allie must either preserve her own innocence or be corrupted by vengeance herself.
  • While the Star Dance cannot be used for directly violent purposes, the Dance of Death does very little but impart violence.
